She was up and about,
To go through with another day,
It was just like any other,
Usual and mundane.

She picked her favourite jeans,
And paired it with a top she liked.
But how could she wear it?
People thought deep neck was an invite.

It somehow labelled you characterless,
And people always stared,
Roadside romeos whistled,
So it was better to pick something else to wear.

She replaced it with a kurti,
That her mother had brought;
She’ll wear the top some other time,
Maybe when she goes out with her folks.

She pulled her hair up in a pony,
Even though she liked it loose,
People otherwise always commented,
About what exactly, she had no clue.

No dark shade of lipstick
And no dangler she wore,
Anything other than the basic,
Made her an attention seeking whore.

Finally she was ready
And she left for work;
